Padova, the home of the Basilica di Sant’Antonio, celebrates St. Anthony’s Feast Day every year on June 13. Hundreds of locals and tourists gathered for mass at the Basilica and for the relic procession throughout the city. The city center streets were packed full of people all day worshiping and celebrating. A woman leans on the pew in front of her during Mass inside Basilica di Sant’Antonio. Mass services were held from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Feast Day.
A woman recites prayers during the 10 a.m. Feast Day Mass. The service recieved so many attendees, many had to stand between pews and in walkways.
In addition to mass and fair-like celebrations, the highlight of Feast Day is the parade that takes over Padova. Crowds lined the entire city’s streets.
Basilica di Sant’Antonio is said to house the floating rib of St. Anthony. The parade leaders carried this relic and tapestry of St. Anthony.
